Dear Dan,
The news of your mother’s death has inspired moments of reflection on the connections that our families have shared across several generations—with proximities in these places: Lawrenceville, White Plains, and of course, Brodnax. Memories of your mom flicker in my mind alongside those of other loved ones who have departed: Elsie, “Mr. Charles”, Jesse Witten, and Nick (both of them). There’s a gratefulness for time spent wondering and wandering with you some quarter of a century ago. There’s a recognition of Anne’s unique perspectives and her engaging conversations. There’s an appreciation for the care you shared—and for her affection in looking after that “Jewel” of a cat we picked up on a whim “once upon a time”.
~Peaceful condolences,
Leigh
