Larry Duane Powers, Sr.

Larry D. Powers, Sr., age 75, of Warfield, VA, formerly a longtime resident of Orange, VA, passed away at his home on August 20, 2026.

Larry was born in Elkins, WV on May 8, 1951. He was the youngest son of the late Lawrence and Gladys Powers. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rachel Gail (Finn) Powers who he married on November 24, 1972. He is also survived by his children, Kristle Powers Hataway and husband, Michael, of Louisa, VA, and Larry D. “Bo” Powers, Jr. of Orange, VA; four grandchildren, Audrey and husband Eric, Kailey and husband Brandon, Austin and wife Alyssa, and Evan; 12 great-grandchildren, Kysen, Aria, Alaya, Meah, Klaira, Ryker, Asher, Ariela, Jaxson, Ezra, and coming soon, Amelia and Millie; a brother, Tommy Powers of Elkins, WV,; a brother-in-law, Joseph Dennis Finn and wife, Shryl; sister-in-law, Lynn Cosner and husband, Rick; his special friend and caregiver, Jay from AmeriCare Plus Home Care, as well as nieces and nephews.

Larry was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and served on the USS Saratoga and at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. For 18 years, Larry was a press operator for the Clarksburg Exponent Telegram in Clarksburg, WV.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Amedysis Hospice for their care and support.

A memorial service will be held at a later time in Orange, VA.
