Willie Carter Reid, Sr.

Willie Carter Reid, Sr., age 96, of Lawrenceville, VA passed away February 2, 2022 at The Woodland in Farmville, VA where he lived for the past eight years.He is preceded in death by his wife, Kate Price Reid; his son, James Butler “J.B.” Reid; and eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son, Willie C. “Bill” Reid, Jr. and wife Jackie of Blackstone; his daughter-in-law, Patricia Reid of Powhatan; his granddaughter, Candice Egle (Darrell); two grandsons, Jason Reid (Alanna) and Jesse Reid; six great grandchildren; and a devoted friend John Clay. Willie was a member of Lawrenceville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, the VFW, and Central Ruritan Club. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and Retired from Vepco where he worked for over 40 years. A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Lawrenceville Baptist Church, Lawrenceville, VA. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lawrenceville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 64, Lawrenceville, VA 23868.
