William Stanley Chappell, Jr.

William Stanley Chappell, Jr., age 74, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
Stan joined the Virginia State Police Academy in 1972 and retired as Master Virginia State Trooper in 1997. Stan also served as a firearms instructor as well as motor carrier inspector during his time with the Virginia State Police.
The family he leaves behind is his wife, Jane Budd Chappell; Andrea and Nathan Kirchgessner, Wade Davis and Christian Wright; grandchildren, Patrick Davis, Spencer Kirchgessner, Kathryn Davis, Garrett Kirchgessner and Jackson Kirchgessner; great grandchild, Hunter Davis; and devoted friend, Bill Shell.
He was a member of the Virginia State Police Association and a long-time member of Living Stone Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at West End Baptist Church, 6506 Boydton Plank Road, N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
