Virginia Dawn Gwizdale

December 4, 1968 — March 5, 2023

Virginia “Ginny” Dawn Gwizdale passed away peacefully at her home in Blackstone, Virginia on March 5, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was only 54, succumbing to a consuming illness despite a valiant fight to the very end.

Ginny was a loving wife and mother—her family was everything to her. She was known for being selfless and caring, whether it was to family, friends, colleagues, clients, pets or plants. She was also known for her strength of character, endurance and work ethic. A genuinely nice person with a cheerful disposition, Ginny was always ready with encouraging words for anyone in need. She lived a life of meaningful acts of love and service and embraced her Christian faith.

Ginny and Rich met in Winchester, Virginia in 1994. The pair married in 2000, living in West Virginia for many years before settling in south-central Virginia the past few. Rich said it’s a testament to her strength and love that she “put up” with him for thirty years. Being a mother to their son, Richie, was one of the highlights of her life.

Ginny will be forever cherished and remembered by many. She is survived by her loving husband Richard A. Gwizdale, Jr.; son Richard A. Gwizdale, III; mother Rachel Dorsey; siblings Jay Dorsey, Becky Campbell, and Daniel Dorsey; nephew Garrett and niece Elizabeth; and mother-in-law Patsy Gwizdale. She leaves behind loving pets Bandit, Bullet and Izzy. She was preceded in death by her father Julian “Blue” Dorsey, and her father-in-law Richard Gwizdale.

The family wishes to express its gratitude for the caring and kindness showed throughout Ginny’s illness by many.
