Tommie Lee Owen, Sr.

Tommie Lee Owen, Sr., 94, of Dinwiddie, went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2022.He is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Spain Owen of 68 years, parents, Jennie Davis Owen, Oscar Owen; brothers, Fred Owen, Frank Owen, Wilbur Owen, Doug Owen, Jeff Owen, Harry Owen, Swarnie Owen; Reese Owen, sister, Ruth Wells. Those that knew him knew he met no stranger and loved to talk. He would give the shirt off his back if it meant he could help someone in need. He was always a hard worker since he was young and loved to be outside busy with fixing things whether it was an automobile or the simplest thing of repairing a bicycle tire. He loved his family endlessly. He is survived by his three sons, Tommie Owen, Jr. (Joan), Marvin Owen (Debbie), John Owen (Cathy), his daughter, Amy Owen Marker (Gary); 11 grandchildren, Sunny, Melissa, Jared, Chad, Scott, Jamie, Madelyne, Andrew, Kendal, Kassidy, and Palyn; 15 great-grandchildren, Charles, Dixie, Ethan, Brady, Dallas, Colin, Simon, Gabriel, Michael, Christopher, Judah, Lydia, Casey, Brantley, and Lizzy. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2022 at Smyrna Baptist Church in Dinwiddie with Pastor Robert Rowland officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, Church Road, VA. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lucy Corr Foundation, 6800 Lucy Corr Boulevard, Chesterfield, VA 23832.
