Sterling Alexander Noblin, Sr.

August 29, 1936 — January 17, 2024

Sterling Noblin Sr., 87, passed away at home with wife, Son, Daughter and granddaughter by his side early morning 1/17/24.

Sterling Noblin was a hard-working, tobacco farmer most of his life. Sterling could raise anything from the dirt. If it was a plant or seed, Sterling could grow it.  He spent years in Lunenburg county farming until he semi-retired in Blackstone, Virginia, where he still got up early every day and went back to Lunenburg to work on the farm with his Son, Sterling Jr. ( Tootsie ) doing what he loved -  Farming, until a stroke slowed him down in his mid-70’s. Sterling loved riding his golf cart with his wife (Edna) to all the gatherings, parties, cookouts etc.; to His Daughter’s house ( Sandy ) next door to talk and laugh, and tell stories to the younger generation. He loved shooting the sh.t as he called it.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Noblin of 66 years; five kids, Sterling Noblin Jr. of Kenbridge, the late Ricky Noblin, Loretta Daniel of Blackstone, Danny Noblin of Blackstone, and Sandy L. Noblin- Anthony of Blackstone. Sterling had a large family, with sisters, brothers, nephews, nieces, daughters-in-law and sons-in-law, lots of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Sterling had a nickname for each of his grandchildren, and that was the only way he would address them.  A legend in his own way in the Noblin family, the oldest living Noblin, along with Earl Noblin of Kenbridge, who Sterling called his brother in every way, who is actually his first cousin, but you would never hear him say it. Sterling taught his children the meaning of hard work, dedication and to finish what you start.  The strongest man I’ve seen in my lifetime, words from Sandy.

Sterling‘s wish was to be cremated, and laid to rest alongside his wife, when that day comes, to be together again, in the Noblin Cemetery.

A gathering of Family and Friends to remember Sterling, with memories, stories, good conversation, and as Mr. Noblin would say a little sh.t talking, will be held at a date to be determined.
