Robert Kendig “Ken” Lafoon, Jr., age 60, a lifelong resident of Rawlings, VA, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Kendig “Bobby” Lafoon; his mother, Patricia Lafoon “Patsy” Wright; step-father, Rickie Lee Wright; paternal grandparents, Elvin Lewis Lafoon and Ladora Daniel Lafoon; maternal grandparents, William Guy Cheely and Elsie Jones Cheely; and a great-nephew, Luke Voss.
Ken lived a simple life and didn’t care about fancy things. He found great joy in working on old cars, trucks and junk. He also enjoyed helping people in the community by repairing their tractors, trucks, or anything else that needed fixing. He loved working for Johnny Moore at Kenbridge Body Shop. Most of all, Ken will be remembered for his kind heart and generosity, and his favorite phrase, “Imagine That.” Among his favorite songs were “I Can Only Imagine” and “Amazing Grace.”
He is survived by his soulmate, Kimberly Matthews “Kim” Watkins; his sisters, Cynthia Lafoon “Cindy” Carwile (Gene), Teresa Lafoon “Wendy” Barnes (Thomas), and Melinda Lafoon “Mendy” Wayland (Danny); nieces and nephews, Claire Voss, Chris Carwile, Alex Barnes, Blake Barnes, Melissa Humphrey, and Daniel Wayland; great-nieces and nephews, Isaiah and Jesse Voss, Jonah, June, and James Carwile, Emerson Paksoy, Sadie, Emma, and Conway Humphrey.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA, followed by interment at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
