Pauline Mayhew Bryant

April 17, 1937 — May 21, 2025

Pauline Mayhew Bryant, 88, of Church Road, VA passed into eternal life with her savior Jesus Christ on May 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 17, 1937 in Campbell County Virginia.

Pauline, or Polly as she was known by her friends, and momma or nanny to her dearest family was best known for her kind heart and love for everyone. She never missed an opportunity to share the gospel with family and friends.

She was employed at Brown and Williamson for 10 years before retiring to become a full time housewife and homemaker. She spent a lot of her time babysitting for family and friends because she could not stand the thought of her babies going to stay with a stranger. She was an avid seamstress and loved to help her kids and grandkids with a school project or a costume for almost any occasion. She loved her home and working in her yard and making the grass and flowers the envy of her neighbors. Her greatest joy in life was her family and teaching them about her Lord and Savior.

She was preceded in death by her son Billy Emory, her daughter, Sharon Cousins and her son in law Tony Christopher.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Claude “Papa Joe” Bryant, her daughter Terry Christopher, son Ronald Emory, daughter Sandra Humphries (Linwood), son Lee Bryant, son in law Allen Cousins, and daughter in law Beverly Emory.

Grandchildren Binky, Bobby, Tracey, T.C., Cathy, Allen, Courtney, Tiffany, Heather, Ashley, Dylan, Lilee, Billy and Randi. She had 22 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday May 27, 2025 at Pine Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive family, friends and acquaintances at 1:00 PM followed by a service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Asbury Memorial Cemetery in McKenney VA.

The family would like to thank all of the sweet nurses and caregivers and volunteers who took care of Pauline. They were all so loving as if they were caring for their own loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805.
