Patricia Ann Slayton Taylor

Patricia “Pat” Ann Slayton Taylor, age 86, of Lawrenceville, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Born in Dolphin, VA, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Pauline Wesson Slayton. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Herbert Edward Taylor; two of her siblings, Morgan Slayton and Audrey Daniel.

Pat was a devoted homemaker and military wife. In later years, she worked at Mitco Food Mart on the Dry Bread Road. Pat and Herbert were often seen cutting grass together on their John Deere lawnmowers. She was a former member of Main Street Baptist Church in Emporia and a current member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Ante.

She is survived by a son, Anthony Wayne Taylor and wife Donna of Lawrenceville, VA; daughter, Kathy Lynn Mabe and husband, Terry of Gloucester, VA. She was “Nana Pat” to her grandchildren, Anthony Wayne Taylor, Jr. (Christy), Daniel Thomas Taylor (Alli Ingenito), Katelynn Ann Taylor, Taylor J. Browder (Laura), Joshua Browder (Courtney), and Noah Mabe, four great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Tucker (Billy); sisters-in-law, Lillian Jones, and Betty Slayton, several nieces and nephews, many extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA followed by interment at Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Freeman, VA. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
