Ola Epperson Jones

Ola Epperson Jones, age 96, of Rawlings, VA, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023. A lifelong resident of Brunswick County, she was the daughter of the late Scott and Sadie Hall Epperson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Charles Southall Jones and a daughter, Carolyn Rose Jones Winn.

A 1948 graduate of Madison College, Mrs. Jones spent the entirety of her career teaching students in the local church and community, ending her thirty-five-year career in education at her beloved Brunswick Academy. 

She is survived by a daughter, Dianne Jones Horne; a son, Neil Southall Jones; grandchildren, Deirdre Horne Mailloux (Randy), Tyler Southall Horne (Lizzy), Russell Neil Horne (Kalyn), Kelly Jones Schmidt (Steve), Tracey Jones Winter (Anthony), Joshua Clifford Shaffer, Michelle Blevins Shaffer, Greta Winn Kidd (T.), and Amanda Louise Winn; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Kenziee, Lainee, Lucy Mae, Ethan, Blake, Lawson, Clarke, Grayson, Jenny Lynn, Alice, Sadie, Mary, and Abigail; special nephew, Ray Epperson (Ruth); devoted friends, Jessie Foster and Linda Williams, as well as many special friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Lebanon United Methodist Church, 7005 Lew Jones Road, Rawlings, VA 23876.
