Mildred Odell Moseley Richardson, 90, of Gasburg, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful Christian who loved the Lord, her family, her church family, and her community. She was one of four children born to the late Wiley and Clarice Moseley and was raised among her large extended family in Brunswick County, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Wade Allen Richardson, Sr.; daughter, Penny Richardson Grizzard; and sister, Hazel Moseley Jefferson.
Having now entered her heavenly home, Mildred leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and cherished memories for her family. She is survived by her children, Patty Richardson and Wade “Allen” Richardson, Jr. (Katie); son-in-law Ronnie Grizzard; grandchildren, Ashley Gibson (Justin), Kirk Grizzard (Stephanie), Logan Richardson (Taylor), and Wade Allen “Trey” Richardson III; great-grandchildren, Madison Burke, Sofia Grizzard, and Charlotte Gibson; sister, Rosalee Hammack (Freddie); brother, Steve Moseley (Brenda); brother-in-law, Jerry Richardson (Mary); and many other cherished family members.
A devoted member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church (PHCC) in Gasburg, Virginia, Mildred served her Lord with great faithfulness, heart, and soul, and enjoyed the love of her church family. Her beautiful and strong spirit, graciousness, and unwavering faith touched everyone who knew her. Mildred was baptized at Pleasant Hill Christian Church on January 17, 1954, where she served as a choir member, Sunday School teacher, Christian Women’s Circle Life Member, and in many other supportive ways. She was forever a faithful witness to Jesus Christ and deeply devoted to PHCC.
Among her many talents, she was a great cook—often making soup, meals, and her famous biscuits (a beloved Easter Breakfast tradition at PHCC) for others. She was an encourager not only to her family but to many friends. Everywhere she went, she wanted everyone to know Jesus as their Savior and always extended an invitation to attend PHCC.
Throughout her life, she worked in the sewing and textile industry in Alberta, Lawrenceville, Roanoke Rapids, Jarratt, LaCrosse, and Richmond, and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a school bus driver for Brunswick Academy for 28 years and also worked at the Gasburg site of the Brunswick County Convenience Center. She found joy in talking with everyone she met.
As a volunteer in her community, Mildred served as President and Life Member of the Central Volunteer Rescue Squad and was also in the organization’s original Auxiliary. She was the Gasburg Fire Department Auxiliary Parliamentarian, Charter Member, and Life Member.
She was a breast cancer survivor and faced many other health challenges over the years, but she always kept a beautiful smile on her face, maintained a positive outlook, never complained, and always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She cherished her family and friends, and all who knew her were blessed.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and reunited with those who have gone before her. Every detail of her life reflected beauty, sacrifice, and love.
The family will receive friends from 4:00–6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Williams Funeral Home (410 Windsor Ave. Lawrenceville, VA 23868). A Celebration of Life service, officiated by Greg Hand, Minister, will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, 175 Ankum Road, Gasburg, Virginia, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
