Lindsay Wright "Deacon" Brown

Lindsay Wright “Deacon” Brown, age 81, of Lawrenceville, VA, passed away at his home on Monday, January 11, 2021. Born in North Carolina, he was the son of the late Rexwell Lee and Roxie Mae Lane Brown. Deacon was a friendly man who never met a stranger. He was farmer for most of his life and loved all of his animals, including his cows and Tennessee Walking Horses, but was especially fond of his dogs, Lucky and Teddi. In his earlier years, Deacon was a regional race car driver and made many lifelong friendships across Virginia and North Carolina. He also enjoyed racing go karts and was happy to teach interested young folks about the sport. In addition to these things, he was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Frances Pearson Brown; his children, Cynthia Lynne Koon (Lee), Kenneth Michael Brown, William Rexwell Brown; grandchildren, Candace Francis (Tommy Hollowell), Katrina Dix (Aaron), Shannon Smith (Max), Millie Rayne Brown, and Gavin Deacon Brown; a brother, Wayne Brown; and a very special friend, Debbie Smith. A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery (the old church cemetery) on Ankum Road in Gasburg, VA.
