Laura Chappell Lankford

Laura Virginia Chappell Lankford, 81, formerly of Dinwiddie, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2023. She was born January 2, 1942, in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Willie E. “Will” and Rachel Hite Chappell and preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Herman Louis Lankford, and a sister, K.  Paige Chappell.

Laura was a life-long beautician in Petersburg. Her talent and love of the hair styling profession gave her not only clients but life-long friends.

Survived by her brother, Earl (Jan) Chappell of Dinwiddie, Virginia; a very special niece, Valerie (Duane) Dolan, of Colonial Heights, Virginia; and numerous generations of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Waverly Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Waverly, Virginia, for the excellent care of Laura over the past 10 years.

A graveside funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at the Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia, with Rev. Dr. Robert Rowland officiating.
