Larry Mallory Jones, Sr.

Larry Mallory Jones, Sr., age 85, of Gasburg, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, after a brief butcourageous fight with cancer. He was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1939, and was a lifelong native of Brunswick County, Virginia. He graduated from the T.C. Williams School of Law at University of Richmond in 1964. He married his sweetheart, Justine Stansbury Jones,on Valentine’s Day in 1965, in Littleton, North Carolina. After practicing law for many years, Larry fulfilled his dream of traveling the United States by working as an over the road truck driver. He visited every state except Alaska and Hawaii and always brought back mementos of his travels to share with his family.

Larry was a kind and gentle soul who was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He never met a stranger and always had interesting stories to tell. He will be greatly missed by all those who love him. Along with his wife, Justine, he was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Rivers Jones, Jr. and Virginia Spragins Jones; and his two brothers, John Wesley “Dick” Jones and Nelvin R. Jones.

He is survived by his daughter, Lori J. Bentley and husband Scott; his son, Larry Mallory Jones, Jr.; his grandchildren, Virginia and Colin Bentley; his two sisters, Lucy C. Clary and Judy L. Taylor (Tom); sister-in-law, Sandra S. Williams (Mike); brother-in-law, A. Alex Lockerman, sister-in-law,Shelby Jones, and by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
