Jerry Bane Smith

Jerry Bane Smith, age 73, a lifelong resident of Brunswick County, VA, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Herbert Smith and Nellie Whitby Smith, and a brother, William Herbert Smith, Jr.

Jerry was a longtime employee of VDOT and enjoyed the many friendships he made with his co-workers. A devoted Yankees fan, he enjoyed watching old westerns and reading the newspaper.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Brenda Lewis and husband David; nieces, Sylvia Lewis and Mandi Calhoun and husband Brian; a nephew, Matthew Smith, as well as several great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Matthews Chapel Church Cemetery, 1538 Matthews Chapel Road, Lawrenceville, VA 23868.
