Jean Delbridge Abernathy

Jean Delbridge Abernathy passed away on December 21, 2023, after a brief illness.

She is survived by her son Ron, daughter-in-law Donna and granddaughter Lauren and her son Shane, daughter-in-law Kristin, and grandchildren Michael and Kayla.  She was predeceased by her husband Hubert Cloud, her son Donnie, her parents Robert and Pearl, and her siblings Lillian, Sambo, Snooks, Gladys, Mary and Lee.

Born and raised in Emporia VA, Jean met the love of her life, Cloud, during high school.  They were introduced by her dear friend Audrey and Cloud’s cousin Bobby.  They were soon married and would relocate to Covington GA, where they started their family of three boys.  She was a devoted mother and wife.  Cloud and Jean moved to Appomattox VA in the late 1970’s to be closer to their respective families.  Together they had fourteen siblings.  With both families combined they were blessed with dozens of nieces and nephews.  Their family tree was extensive!  Jean was a faithful Christian and enjoyed attending church.  She had great memories of attending Canaan Baptist Church in Covington and Bible Baptist Church in Appomattox. 

The family would like to thank the friends and family who sent thoughts and prayers, along with those who visited and befriended Jean over the last years in Oak Crest and Charter Senior Living.  She loved the calls and notes.  Her race is run, and she is at peace.  Services will be for immediate family.
