George Thomas Jackson

January 9, 1941 — February 5, 2024

George Thomas “Tommy” Jackson, 83 years of age, passed away at his home on February 5, 2024 with his wife beside him. Tommy was born on January 9, 1941. He was preceded in death by Bobby (Joyce) Jackson (brother), Stanley Jackson (brother) and Mitchell Moseley (son-in-law). His survivors include Sylvia (wife of 61 years), Scott (Dawn) (son), Cynthia Moseley (daughter), Dr. Eric Moseley (grandson), Dr. Chelsea Moseley (granddaughter), Shane Mondloch (Chelsea’s fiancée), Fay Myrick (Herbert) (sister), and Bonnie Bowen (Glenn) (sister). Tommy retired from Vulcan Materials Company in Petersburg after working 48 years in one of their local rock quarries. You could always find him on a lawn mower cutting grass or planting something in his garden. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed NASCAR racing (particularly Ford drivers) as well as JMU and UVA games in honor of his two grandchildren who were the highlight of his life.
 
Family and friends will be welcomed at his residence in the days prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to either Alberta Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 178, Alberta, VA 23821 or Bethel United Methodist Church,

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2024 at Crestview Memorial Park, La Crosse, VA.
