Gale Spiers Thomas

Gale Spiers Thomas, affectionately known as “Grandma Gale,” age 86, passed away peacefully at her Lawrenceville, VA home on November 12, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late Robert Hall Spiers and Meda Elizabeth Warf Spiers and was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Price McGuire “Big Shot” Thomas, Jr.; a son, Richard McGuire Thomas; a brother, Bobby Spiers; and a sister, Shirley Schecter.

Gale was raised on a farm which began a lifelong love for gardening and canning. She was a longtime devoted member of Lawrenceville United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed fishing, taking trips to the beach, and spending time with her family. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Gale is survived by her son, Robert Alan Thomas (Lita); Grandson, Garret Hall Thomas (Rachel); Great Grandchildren, Mattison Jayde Thomas, Jaelyn Nicole Thomas, and Logan Blake Thomas; brother, Robert Hall Spiers, Jr. (Faye); sister, Patricia Lewis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am., Saturday November 15, 2025 at Williams Funeral Home, 410 Windsor Ave., Lawrenceville, VA 23868, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lawrenceville Fire Department or Rescue Squad.
