Frank Murphy Wright, Sr.

Frank Murphy Wright, Sr., age 85, a lifelong resident of Gasburg, VA, passed away Monday, August 15, 2022.Frank was one of eight children born to the late Irvin Hope and Sallie Moseley Wright. He was preceded in death by a brother, Shelton Wright, and three sisters, Ruth Wall, Joyce Edwards, and Carolyn Clary. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed by Ronald E. Wright Logging for 24 years. Frank loved to hunt and was a founding member of Old Store Hunt Club. He also loved racing and was proud of his drag car, “Gasburg Shaker.” He will be remembered most as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Wright is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jo Ann Blanton Wright; a son, Frank Wright, Jr. and wife, Angela; granddaughters, Rachel Crutchfield and husband, Jordon, and Alexis Wright and fiancée, Cameron Clary; great-grandson, Ander Grey “Scoot-A-Boot” Crutchfield; sister, Sarah Wright; brothers, Edward I. Wright and James C. Wright, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Williams Funeral Home & Crematory in Lawrenceville, VA. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Olive Branch United Methodist Church in Gasburg, VA, followed by interment at the Wright Family Cemetery.
