Evelyn Jane Carnes Lucy

Evelyn Jane Carnes Lucy, 88, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Born in Norton, Kansas to the late Francis and Rose Carnes. Predeceased by her husband Welford Ordway Lucy Jr. of Dinwiddie County, Virginia and is survived by her daughters; Nancy Smithson and husband Bob of Moyock, Rhea Barklage and husband Kevin of Virginia Beach, Mary Lucy of Virginia Beach, Ethelyn Lucy of Portsmouth, and Rebecca Kirkland and husband Ray of Lanexa. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A longtime member of Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church in Chesapeake until she and Welford retired to Dolphin where they attended Liberty church. Jane enjoyed playing bridge, sewing and was an avid reader. She also volunteered her time to various local organizations. A devoted wife and mother whom will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 15th at Oakwood Cemetery in Lawrenceville, Virginia at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liberty Church in Dolphin.
