Elizabeth Peebles Steed

Elizabeth Peebles Steed, age 106, a lifelong resident of Brunswick County, VA, passed away at her home on Thursday, February 29, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Lemuel Heartwell and Mary Newsom Peebles and the widow of William B. Steed. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Marion Peebles, Jack Peebles, and Garland Peebles.

Mrs. Steed will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who supported her family in every way. She was a loving grandmother and cherished times spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Betty Shumate (the late Bob), Nancy Vanson, and Bill Steed (Deborah), grandchildren, Lisa Wajick, Will Shumate (Sonya), Brett Clary (Jaimee), Chad Steed (Beverly), and Tori Mullins (Jim), seven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA. A graveside funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery.
