Dorothy Abernathy Lucy

Dorothy Abernathy Lucy, age 97, of Dolphin, VA, passed away on December 28, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, E. Harold Lucy and a granddaughter, Donna Matthews Nunnally.

She was at peace with herself, her faith, and those she loved. She leaves to cherish her memory her two children, David H. Lucy of Dolphin, VA, and Linda L. Matthews (Pat) of Warfield, VA; three grandchildren, Daniel Matthews (Katie), Shawn Lucy (Crystal), and Shannon Ivey; five great-grandchildren, Jared and Savannah Nunnally, Wyatt Lucy, and Daniel and Ashby Matthews; three great-step grandchildren, Haley and Jessie Clary, and Kristen Ivey.

Mrs. Lucy retired from Brunswick Chevrolet as business manager after 29 years and later from Southside Virginia Community College after eight years of service. She enjoyed traveling and playing bridge. She was a lifetime member of Liberty Church.

The family will receive visitation of friends and family from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026 at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Liberty Church followed by burial at Liberty Church Cemetery in Dolphin, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Church Cemetery Fund at 3381 Planters Road, Lawrenceville, VA 23868.
