Donald Wayne Henshaw

Donald Wayne Henshaw, age 73, of Church Road, VA, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 3, 1952 and was the twelfth of thirteen children born to the late Mark Luther and Elsie Mae Aliff Henshaw.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene Henshaw, Linwood Henshaw, David Henshaw, and Gilbert Henshaw, sisters, Ruby Mae Henshaw, Lorraine Horning, and Carolyn Henshaw.

A devout Christian, Donnie was baptized as a young man at West End Baptist Church. He was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church for 54 years where he served on numerous committees. He was an excellent multi-sport athlete in high school and later served in the U.S. Army Reserves. A successful businessman, he enjoyed a long career as a residential builder and developer. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed traveling. Above all, Donnie will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his family deeply.

Donnie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue Haddon Henshaw; his sons, Paul Forrest Henshaw (Melissa) and James Douglas Henshaw; grandchildren, Haley Brooke Henshaw, Daniel Paul Henshaw, and Samuel James Henshaw; brothers, Phillip Henshaw, Horace Henshaw, Raymond Henshaw (Frances); sisters, Juanita Turner and Gloria Heath; sisters-in-law, Alicia Henshaw, Vada Henshaw, Mary Scott Henshaw, Penny Edwards (Jim), Betty Mayes, and Brenda Reese (Ray); a devoted friend, Doug Elder; traveling buddy, Lynn Spain, as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Central Baptist Church, 6405 Courthouse Road, Church Road, VA 23833. A funeral service to celebrate Donnie’s life will begin at Noon Wednesday at the church. The interment will be private.
