Donald Watkins Cannon, 79, of Lawrenceville, VA, affectionately known as “Bear,” passed away suddenly on February 21, 2026. Donald was born October 6, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents Ella Pearson Cannon and James McDonald Cannon of Lawrenceville.
He is survived by his wife Constance Tudor Cannon; three children, Teresa Cannon Kea, Trudy Cannon and April Cannon-Nius (Jason); his six grandchildren, Tyler Kea, Taylor Hill, Jayden Rhodes, Dani Rhodes, Jace Rhodes and Arthur Nius, and his great grandson Elliott Kea. He is also survived by his brother, Graham Cannon and his sister, Brenda Neathery. He was a pillar of strength for his family.
Donald also served in the Army Reserve. He was President and owner of 58 Auto Sales in Lawrenceville. He thrived on the negotiating part of business which allowed him to become a successful real estate investor.
He was very instrumental in helping and giving support and guidance to others to help them be successful with their business ventures as well. He always wanted everyone to succeed and do their very best. He had a great role in the community in giving a helping hand to anyone in the community that needed it.
He always had a dry sense of humor and always enjoyed having a big hearty laugh and conversation with whoever he was conversing with and always gave an antidote of laughter so you would remember him.
He had a love and passion for the land of gardening, planting an orchard and mowing the yard on his big tractor. He loved his family and cherished all family gatherings, from the holidays and cook outs. He especially loved the lake life of fishing with his grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2026 at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA followed by a private burial with family members. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
