Dolly M. Porter, 91 of Dinwiddie County, VA was peacefully called home to be with the Lord Friday, November 7, 2025. She lived a long and blessed life grounded in faith and devoted to Christ.
Dolly affectionately known as Nana, is survived by her loving husband of nearly 74 years, Dee Porter, her children Rick Porter (Denise) and Cindi Melvin (Tom) her grandchildren Zachary Melvin (Sarah), Eli Melvin, and Mattison Porter, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mattie Mitchell, brothers John, George Robert, and Powell D. Mitchell, and sisters Elise Rice, Ruby Cook, Mary Gotwald, Gladys Robertson Norton, Marjorie Mitchell, Ruth Mitchell, and Naomi Mitchell.
Dolly was a life-long active member of Kenwood United Methodist Church and faithfully served the Lord, her family, her church and her community. Her kind and generous heart was an example and inspiration to us all. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. While we grieve her passing, there is peace in believing she is in the presence of her Lord and has heard Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23.
A celebration of life will be held at Kenwood United Methodist Church on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 1:00 PM. A private graveside service will immediately follow the service.
