Clyde Nelson Spence

Clyde Spence of Brodnax, Virginia, passed away on February 25, 2023. He was born on June 20, 1930.

He was an iron worker and a longtime union member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Local #848 Durham, NC, #28 Richmond, VA, and #79 Norfolk, VA. He was a lifelong avid racing fan and even owned and drove race cars himself.

He is survived by his wife Alease Spence, his daughters Barbara Spence, Vickie S. Hayes (Joey), Melissa S. Morris (Mark Lucy), and his brother William (Ann). He also leaves behind his faithful dog Cooper. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Iva Spence, his brother Pete, and his sister Ola.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA. Interment will follow at the family cemetery in Brodnax, VA. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
