Christina “Tina” Ann Brummett born February 4, 1958, was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and Yiayia. She passed away peacefully in her home on June 1, 2025, in Lawrenceville, VA. Tina was married to Claude Edward “Eddie” Brummett and together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Tina leaves behind her five daughters: Cyndee Sirk-Fear (Scott Fear), Brandi Hutchison, Crystal Sirk (Jason Hall), Tara Hanks (Curtice Hanks), and Claudia Amanda McGovern (Matthew McGovern); her mother, Marianne Cline; her sister, Cynthia Sarris; and her nephew, Chett Vogt. Tina was also the proud Yiayia to 16 grandchildren; Michael Sirk, Hayley Elliott (Sam Elliott), Corinne Smallwood (Willie Smallwood), Savannah Hutchison, Brooke McFadden (Anthony McFadden), Kyla Dove, Vinny McGovern, Samantha Sirk, Braeden Eddie Christiansen, Levi Fear, Adrianna McGovern, Jackson Christiansen, Emmy Hall, Scarlett McGovern, Rory Hall, and Catherine Hanks. She was fortunate to have 5 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. Tina’s beloved stepfather, Beryl Cline; her father, Michael Sarris; her grandchildren Payton & Kyle Hutchison; and her great grandchild Lucy Elliott preceded her in death.
A woman of many talents, Tina was a master gardener who could often be found spending hours tending to her garden. From flowers to vegetables, and everything in between, Tina’s green thumb was the envy of many, and her expertise in plants was unmatched. Her love for gardening and all things green brought beauty to everyone who knew her.
Tina made sure to pass down customs from her Greek heritage, including the annual baking of vasilopita bread each New Year’s, and cherished family traditions like decorating Christmas cookies every December. What began as a fun activity with her children many years ago has continued to bring the family together, year after year.
Birthdays were always special to Tina. She believed in celebrating the individual, that each person was special on their birthday. While her children were young, she would have elaborate birthday parties filled with love and joy, including their favorite cakes. The tradition of these birthday celebrations continues to be carried on by her children and grandchildren.
Her mother, Marianne will attest that Tina always had a desire to be a wonderful chef and started at a young age mastering recipes in the kitchen. Later in life, she even created individual cookbooks which she shared with the family members in hopes that her recipes would live on well past her time. Tina would often make avgolemono soup, a Greek soup as that was a family favorite. She ensured that each daughter knew how to make the soup and of course, it was included in her cookbook! Eddie would laugh because Tina would send him to work with extra food to share with his coworkers and they would start putting in requests for him to bring more. She loved to cook for others and would send plates of delicious food to the neighbors. Tina even made the wedding cakes for several of her daughters, their friends, and other extended family members.
Alongside her gardening and culinary skills, Tina was also quite gifted when it came to sewing and quilting. Whether it was creating prom dresses, putting together Halloween costumes, designing baby doll clothes, or making baby blankets, her children always admired her creativity and ability to bring ideas to life through fabric. Tina’s artistic touch in so many areas of life left a legacy of beauty that will never be forgotten.
This November would have marked Tina and Eddie’s 40th wedding anniversary. They had planned to return to Italy, a place they had visited many times and that Tina always said she longed to see again. Though Tina will be deeply missed by all who knew her, it is comforting to know that she is now with loved ones who have gone before her, free from pain and at peace.
Tina’s love, traditions, and teachings will continue to live on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beyond. Her memory will be cherished, and her legacy will be honored for generations to come.
Rest in peace, Tina. You are forever loved.
