Chester Carlyle Blanchard, Jr.

Chester Carlyle Blanchard, Jr., age 77, of Dolphin, VA, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023. Born and raised in Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of the late Chester Carlyle and Helen Virginia Blanchard. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Blanchard Seebo and brother-in-law, Bernard William Seebo.

Chester was a Vietnam War veteran, serving as an Air Traffic Control Tower Chief. He owned Blanchard’s Wallpaper Company for 35 years and then was co-owner and greenhouse manager of Rocky Ford Farm Tomatoes. He was a member of Liberty Church, serving as Trustee for nine years, and was President of Red Oak Hall for 12 years. He enjoyed all outdoor activities including camping, fishing and golf. Chester was always a gentleman and willing to help with any project. Chester will be deeply missed by his wife and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathryn S. Blanchard; step-son, Troy McDowell; nephew, Michael Seebo (Dian); and God-son, Zachary Seebo.

Memorial service will be private and his ashes will be scattered in the places he loved.
