Burton Lee Doggett III

Burton Lee Doggett III, age 63, of Ladysmith, VA and Kill Devil Hills, N.C. peacefully set sail on his final adventure February 1st, 2017. He was the son of the late Jean B. Doggett and Lt. Cmdr. USN Burton Lee Doggett Jr. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Libby Jean Doggett; his beloved dogs, Ginny and Socks; a brother, David; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends. Burt graduated from The Blue Ridge School and attended Averett College. He was the manager of The Virginia Bazaar for the last 17 years but, his first love was the water. He traveled the world from Dubai to Singapore as a commercial fisherman and merchant marine. Burt loved an adventure, to travel and to fish. Gone Fishin’ I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me, so put me on a boat headed out to sea. Please send along my fishing pole for I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole. Where every day is a day to fish, to fill your heart with every wish. Don’t worry, or feel sad for me, I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea. We will miss each other for a while, but you will come and bring your smile. That won’t be long you will see, till we’re together you and me. To all of those that think of me, be happy as I go out to sea. If others wonder why I’m missin’ just tell ‘em I’ve gone fishin’ – By Delmar Pepper A private memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to The Coastal Conservation Association, 6919 Portwest, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77024.
